I finally got a reservation to Au Pied De
Cochon (536 Rue Duluth). My reservation was for 6:00 pm yesterday. We got there 5 minutes early and we were promptly seated. Luckily, we had the address of the place as it did not have a sign indicating you were at the right place.
The atmosphere was pleasant and the aroma of the place teased my senses.
We ordered the following after watching the cooks popping oysters in the mouth and chasing it with a bottle of wine:
1.
Roti Porc2. Tuna
Cru3.
Carpacio Carnard4. Pied De
Cochon5. Pied
de cochon beer
6. Cappuccino
The sauce that came with the
porc tasted like tartar sauce. Nonetheless, it tasted good. The Tuna Cru was delicious. The slice of Tuna was fresh and blended well with the tomato and sauce. I read a lot of good reviews about the Carpacio Carnard and I wanted to try it. It was a disappointment. The dish just tasted too greasy. The pied de couhon was the worst main dish I have ever
eaten. The meat had an odor that made me think I was
eating lamb. We sent the dish back barely touched with the exception of the mashed potatoes. It is very rare that I cannot eat a dish put in front of me. No matter how bad it tastes. I was very
disappointed. The beer was warm but it helped soak up the grease that was sitting in my stomach and remove the foil smell from the Pied De
Couchon dish. For some reason, the coffee tasted sour.
Grand total: $93.38
Summary: Food not worth the hype. I would go back and try the seafood.
